Zack Miller discusses regulation with Jo Ann Barefoot of Barefoot Innovation Group.

This week’s guest on the Tearsheet podcast is Jo Ann Barefoot, CEO of Barefoot Innovation Group, where she writes, speaks and advises on technology and regulation in the US and globally.

Jo Ann is a senior fellow at Harvard University’s John F Kennedy School of Government’s Center for Business & Government. Previously, she was the first female Deputy Comptroller of the Currency. Jo Ann is also the host of the Barefoot Innovation podcast.

“I think the regulators have an opportunity, if they can get the right balance and the right sophistication, to tilt the emerging fintech landscape toward pro-consumer solutions – not with a heavy hand, but by making an easier path for products that are clearly transparent,” she says. “If they can tilt fintech, they’ll tilt finance every time, because fintech is going to transform finance as a whole. Not everyone sees that yet.”

You can listen to more episodes of the Tearsheet Podcast, and other fintech shows, on the BankNXT podcast page. Enjoy!
